Spring School of Scottish Dancing 2017

We are happy to invite you to our Spring School of Scottish Dancing 2017. This time we'll have a little anniversary. For 5 years our School has been the most outstanding and the most important event in the Scottish Dancing Culture in Russia. The School will be held in Kazan from May 5 to May 9.

The School program includes the workshops in all styles of Scottish Dancing: Scottish Country Dancing, Highland dancing, Ladie's step and Cape Breton Dancing. The workshops will be taught by the best teachers from the whole world. There will be also Highland Dancing competitions and SCD Demonstration teams festival. In addition, there will be course and exams for the RSCDS Teaching Certificate Part 1 (Units 2 & 3).

The details about our teachers, workshops, competitions and other events will be published a little later. For now save the date - May 05-09 2017, Kazan! There will be a lot of joy! We are expecting you! Watch for updates on the School webpage.

Also we invite everybody to our grand ball in St. Andrews Anglican Church on December 10. The information about this event, including ball programme, may be found here.

The beginning of new dancing season

Dear friends!

We had wonderful time dancing on open-airs in the Summer. Now it's Autumn, and with great pleasure we resume our regular classes! We are going to open 24th dancing season on Sunday, September 4. First SCD class will be held from 17:00 to 19:00 in Maximum Dance studio at address 11 Baumanskaya str., first floor, hall 4. The class costs 250 roubles.

The other classes - Cape Breton on Tuesdays and SCD on Thursdays - will start a week later, from September 13. The cost will be 300 roubles.

Summer Dancing

The dancing classes are over for the Summer, but it doesn't mean that we don't dance in the Summer at all!

Every Tuesday from 8 in the evening and till dusk, if the weather is good, we dance in the Gorky Park. We dance simple dances, so anyone can join us, and we dance complex ones, interesting for experienced dancers. Our dances are free of charge! Come and join us!

We dance either at the entrance to Pushkin Bridge, or, if there is possibility of a rain, under the bridge. Walking time from Shabolovskaya metro station is about 10 minutes. Our dancing spots are marked on the map. Simply follow the sounds of Scottish music to find us!

RSCDS Membership

Dear friends! It is Summer - the time for renewal of RSCDS membership. It was decided on the last RSCDS AGM to increase membership fee by 2 GBP. Now the fees are:

  • Adult Single (25 years or older) - £ 20 - 1950 ₽;
  • Adult Joint (two members residing at the same address) - £ 32 - 3100 ₽;
  • Young Adult (18-24 years old) - £ 16 - 1550 ₽;
  • Youth (12-17 years old) - £ 10 - 1000 ₽.

Membership fees help the Society to train teachers, continue its work with schools and young people, run and administer examinations and produce recordings and printed material to complement those activities. This vital support means the RSCDS is able to preserve a tradition and maintain a consistency that makes Scottish Country Dancing the same throughout the world.

Closing season of Sunday dancing

Dear friends! On next Sunday, May 29, we are closing the season of Sunday dancing. The final Sunday class will be held from 17:00 to 19:00 in the Maximum Dance studio at address 11 Baumanskaya str., FIRST floor, hall №4. Please note that this time we are dancing in another hall. 

Our classes on Cape Breton on Tuesdays and on SCD on Thursdays will be continued till the end of June. Come and dance with us!
